The exhibition by KORPIQUEER collective “KORVESTA TULLEET // THEY CAME FROM THE WILDERNESS” is on display in Galleria Elias in Kajaani. The main theme of the exhibition is drawn by the dialogue and connection between queer bodies and deep wilderness.
Galleria Elias is a new gallery space in Kajaani. It is maintained by Taidevaltatie Toivo ry.
The opening of this exhibition ensemble is on Valentine’s Day, on Friday 14th at 19.00. The exhibition is open during the weekends: 15.–16.2., 22.–23.2., sekä 1.–2.3., from 12.00 to 17.00.
There will also be a pop up café and an art print sale.

KORPIQUEER collective was founded in the summer of 2024 in Kajaani. It is the first multidisciplinary art collective of queer artists in Kainuu region. The core members of the collective are local visual artists Elias Luhtaniemi, Hiisi, and Taija Kovalainen – and multidisciplinary artist, film maker KM Taavitsainen.
In October 2024, the collective had its first group exhibition ”Metsägalleria” (Forest Gallery) on Pirunvaara Hill in Kajaani. The collective’s journey has been supported by Kone Foundation, Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation, Arts Promotion Centre Finland and Kainuu Seta.
