The bronze sculpture was designed by the sculptor Kaarlo Mikkonen from Kajaani.

The bronze sculpture, placed in the green area of the Kajaani City Theater, is a tribute to the women of the 1940s who played an important role in housework during the war and reconstruction. The sculpture was unveiled on Independence Day 2001
