The hiking trail is located in the protected forest of Talaskangas in the Kajaani, Sonkajärvi and Vieremä areas. The trail is bordered by spruce forests and swamps and is suitable for summer hiking.
There are no steep ascents or descents, and the path is relatively flat throughout its length. Along the trail there are three campfire spots with a shelter or semi-shelter. It takes about 3-4 hours to hike the whole route.
The trail can be started either from Jyleikönkangas or Talaskangas. The route is also an excellent day trip destination for families with children, especially if you start the hike from Talaskangas. The duckboards are in poor condition at some places, so it is advisable to bring waterproof shoes.
Metsähallitus (the Forest Administration) is responsible for the maintenance of the trail.
