Kaukametsä Poetry Path

Koskikatu 2-4, 87100 Kajaani
On the Kaukametsä Poetry Path, stones on which poems have been carved form a small path where you can sense the atmosphere of the poetry weeks of the past summers.

In the garden of the Kaukametsä Congress and Cultural Centre, there are seventeen stones in which poems have been carved. The stones form the Poetry Path. The idea of a poem engraved on a stone came from Sina Kujansuu, the previous artistic director of the Kajaani Poem Week (2004–2006). Each poet selected as the poet of the summer will pick a poem to be carved on a stone from their body of work.

The unveiling of the poem stone has become the highlight of the first day of the festival. The texts of the poets leave a permanent memento in the Kaukametsä area.
