The bronze sculpture was donated by the foundation of the sculptor Emil Cedercreutz, the base was donated by the UPM Kajaani paper mill. The sculpture was donated in 2005 in honor of forestry in Kainuu and dates back to 1916.
Its counterpart, the sculpture ‘Uittomies’ (Raftsmen), is located in Heinola.
